The Eagles dominated in Super Bowl LIX. Do the same for your projects with project health dashboards.

The Eagles were in total control yesterday. There was nothing the Chiefs could do in that Super Bowl game, and the opportunity for their 3-peat faded quickly starting in the second quarter. The Eagles had an unstoppable defense, and things looked grim for the Chiefs given the 24-0 differential going into halftime.

So how can you replicate that same level of dominance in construction?

The short answer - use project health dashboards.

You won’t get a Super Bowl trophy or championship rings, but you will achieve a significantly better project delivery, a very happy client, and a data-driven strategy that can win you more contracts in the future. It’s a strategic move that will go far.

What are project health dashboards?

Project health dashboards provide real-time insights into the status and performance of any given project. These comprehensive reports will enable teams to have better control and understanding of how their projects are performing, whether they need details on financial metrics, schedule performance, field management metrics, safety stats, or more. With summarized KPIs and key visuals, these reports empower project managers, executives, and other stakeholders to properly monitor progress, identify risks, and make more informed decisions.

Above is an example of our project health dashboard that we provide to our customers. Our platform easily unifies siloed data from project management software like Procore or Autodesk, scheduling tools like P6 or Microsoft Project, and ERP software like Sage 300, CMiC, or Viewpoint Vista. And our customers can now track their projects in real-time and dominate their projects.

Project health dashboards rely on a combination of data from different data sources. It is rare to have a project health dashboard that only uses one source of data.

This report seems pretty easy to pull together. Am I missing something?

Yep.

Here’s the honest truth when it comes to project health reports…it’s not easy. And having real-time reporting capabilities is NOT easy and NOT cheap if you do everything yourself.

Here are the quick facts:

  • The larger general contractors who have built in-house data capabilities have spent multiple 6-figures (sometimes 7-figures) on hiring a robust data team to make this a reality for them. We know this because we’ve spoken to a majority of them about their experiences.
  • For a project health dashboard to be useful, it needs to show a combination of project data from different data sources. Otherwise, you would be relying on one-dimensional data that won’t actually show you the full picture of what is going on at the jobsite. Combining project data from different data sources requires an extremely heavy lift from data engineers that you’ll need to hire. Lots of resources (time and money) get burned during the process, and unfortunately not everyone in the industry has the luxury of that time and money.
  • Project health dashboards need to be showing data as real-time as possible: Again, this requires data engineers to build data pipelines and properly leverage data warehousing to make this a reality. Otherwise, your reports are going to show stale data. If you’re looking to do this yourself from scratch, then be ready to spend millions and burn a lot of time in the process. Everyone has a different approach to their data strategy, so choose what you feel most comfortable with.

I don’t want to spend multiple 6-figures and waste time. What else is there?

You’re in luck, because you’re in the right place!

Kroo is a modern data management platform providing this exact solution. We empower construction teams to easily produce a project health dashboard at a fraction of the cost.

Our software integrates with the construction industry’s frequently used software (our full catalog of integrations is available on our website). We provide all the necessary data infrastructure and manage the data pipelines + data warehousing on your behalf so that you can focus on the outputs (i.e. project health reports and other analytics).

It doesn’t get easier than that. And we do it all for a fraction of the cost of building internally.

We’re excited that we already work with leading ENR contractors with their data management capabilities. Check out our website for case studies and more information on our capabilities, and feel free to schedule a quick chat with our CEO.
